A well designed site plan can include thinking about more than just the main house.

Separate outbuildings can add much to a property in terms of both design & function. Gazebos, barns, carports- even chicken coops- can be sculptural elements in the landscape that help define areas of the yard, while providing functional space for storing equipment or working from home. Detaching the garage from the house is always beneficial for safety and the quality of light entering the home’s living spaces. Office work spaces, art studios, and accessory apartments can be magical when allowed to be on their own in the landscape, separate from the primary structure. Finishes and colors can often be more whimsical when not a part of the house-proper.
